Vaping, E-Cigarettes, and Hookah 101
Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) and hookah use are on the rise and becoming a major public health concern. You may have noticed e-cigarette advertisements outside of gas stations and on the television, or hookah bars popping up in your neighborhood. “Vaping, E-Cigarettes, and Hookah 101” will get medical professionals up to speed on how to identify vaping and hookah products, review the function of the devices, and explore regulatory issues.

Director of Tobacco and Health Programs
Carla Conrad joined the Breathe Pennsylvania staff in April 2015 as the Director of Tobacco Cessation and Education Programs. In early 2016, she also added the role of Program Coordinator. Previously, she taught for Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital’s School of Respiratory Care and worked as a Neonatal Respiratory Therapist at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Carla earned her Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2008. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Health Services Leadership from Saint Vincent College in 2012. Currently, she is a Doctoral student in the Administrative and Leadership Studies program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is focusing her dissertation on the effect of health literacy on chronic lung disease management. Carla is actively involved in the Pennsylvania Society of Respiratory Care (PSRC) and is a member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
