The 2019 DME Competitive Bidding Program
What You Need to Know

This year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is making significant changes to the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, & Supplies (DMEPOS) competitive bidding program for Round 2021.

It’s important that all suppliers understand how the new bidding process works. Major changes this year include:

  • Use of “lead item pricing” for bidding

  • A “clearing price” that will set single payment amounts – no more median bids

  • Bid Surety Bonds

To help bidders understand the system, PAMS has teamed up with The American Association for Homecare other leading industry organizations to develop an educational website with information and resources about the new process.

The website also features a bid calculator showing how the new “lead item pricing” methodology impacts the rest of the products in each category and how the new rates would compare to current Medicare rates.

Are you prepared for these major changes?
